(Glory lily) The flaring petals look just like the flames of an open fire. It's hard to imagine a more flamboyant plant for a patio container. Clusters of 10cm (4") blooms are produced from the leaf axils at the top of climbing vine-like stems. Gloriosa is easy to grow if you start them off indoors and take care to lift the bulb and store indoors before the first frost. At a plant height of 1.5m (5') it is equally suitable for a sheltered spot in the garden or in a container in partial shade. Develops quickly and can sometimes be divided after its first year.
