The early green foliage of BONFIRE quickly matures to a wonderful deep red and stays that way 'til frost. In spring, chartreuse flower-like bracts are produced and hover in sharp contrast above the compact burgundy leaves. Combine with yellow-leaved plants or shrubs for best effect. A compact plant at 10" tall by 18" wide, it grows best in well-drained, poor-to-moderately fertile soil. Can be divided every two to three years. If cutting back, use gloves as the sap may irritate skin of some individuals. Hardy to zone 5.
