FOETIDUS(Stinking Hellebore) It hardly seems fair to give such a striking and under-rated plant “Stinking” – particularly when it doesn’t. Name aside, it bears clusters small green occasionally fragrant flowers in very early spring but it is the gorgeous, deeply divided foliage that changes colour throughout the season from a dark blue-green to a bright lime green. A superb specimen plants and excellent companion to other shade perennials. Ht. and spread 60-75cm (2-2.5’). Hardy to zone 4.
These famous harbingers of spring are among the easiest and most dependable of all perennials. They bloom for six weeks beginning just after the snow melts and display their glossy, dark evergreen foliage thoughout the rest of the year. Hellebores are shade plants and will thrive in a range of soils but prefer a rich, moist, organic soil. They’ll even tolerate some drought once they’re established. Deer resistant.
We're shipping nice 2 year old, well-rooted plants in our 1 litre extra-deep 4.5” pots. |
