PASTEL SPLENDOUR

(Blooms mid-season)
This 1996 Bill Seidel peony introduction produces huge 25cm (10") wide flowers that emerge a light pastel yellow, highlighted by prominent maroon blotches in the center. As the yellow flowers age to white, they become suffused with light pink that progresses from the petal tips toward the center. PASTEL SPLENDOUR makes a stunning, 90cm (3') tall, deer-resistant specimen with very sturdy stems, occasionally reflowering. Thanks to its tree peony genes it has great heat tolerance.

The rare and choice Itoh hybrid peony are the result of a lifetimes work of Toichi Itoh; who managed to cross a Tree peony with an Herbaceous peony over 50 years ago. They combine the large, elegant flowers and colours of the Tree peony with the hardiness and easy cultivation of Herbaceous peonies. These plants are still scarce and only a decade ago sold for over $1000. We are pleased to offer a limited number for delivery this fall.

Strong, 3 - 5 eye field grown divisions are shipped from October to frost.
