DRESS CIRCLENEW 2012 INTRODUCTION
Blooms mid-late season
Elegantly veined, blue-violet, cream-centred standards with golden yellow falls, edged and veined in blue-violet. A dramatic finale to the summer Spuria Iris show. Ht. 90cm (36").
SPURIA IRIS
(Butterfly Iris) One wonders how we could have overlooked them. They're up to 1.5m tall (5'), they have 3 - 5 large 10-13cm flowers (4-5") per sturdy stalk. They make impressive, long-lasting cut flowers, they grow happily undisturbed for 10 years or more and they're hardy to zone 3! They bloom 2-3 weeks after the Tall Bearded Iris. And best of all, our plants are grown right here in Canada.
Our bare root Spuria Iris are best planted in the fall. All they ask is a fertile soil, modest amount of water, deadheading and a feeding of compost or manure in the spring and after they bloom.
Shipments of our bare root plants start in September.
